October is National Bully-Prevention Month

Updated: Oct 9, 2018

A bully has no specific shape, size or gender. You can't tell what one looks like. Bullying is an assertion of power. The bully may not be aggressive to everybody. He does it to the person he believes is weaker than he/she is. Jealousy is another reason why a bully may pick on someone. How can we combat bullying as Martial Artists? Well, there are many ways. One of them is with Kindness. Kindness is one of the most significant contributors to a positive school climate. Being kind makes others happy, makes you feel good, and helps prevent bullying. Another tactic is to treat everyone with respect. There are things you can do if you are being bullied:

  • Look at the kid bullying you and tell him or her to stop in a calm, clear voice.

  • If speaking up seems too hard or not safe, walk away and stay away. Find an adult to stop the bullying on the spot.

There are things you can do to stay safe in the future, too.

  • Talk to an adult you trust. Don’t keep your feelings inside. Telling someone can help you feel less alone. They can help you make a plan to stop the bullying.

  • Stay away from places where bullying happens.

  • Stay near adults and other kids. Most bullying happens when adults aren’t around.

  • Don’t participate in name calling or physical violence and no mocking of other people. It should be clear that bullying is not tolerated

ANTI-BULLYING SEMINAR WILL BE HELD ON: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 14TH AT 10:00 A.M. $65/CHILD. CALL TO REGISTER
